Introduction to the Matter Calendar (legacy)

Updated on

The AdvoLogix Matter Calendar displays the Matter schedule in a traditional monthly calendar format. Scheduled activities and key matter dates are displayed and available for edit using the techniques described in this article.

The following information applies to using the Matter Calendar in Salesforce Classic. Please see this article for using the Matter Calendar in the Lightning Experience.

Organizational Context

Organizational Context

When used in an organizational context, the Matter Calendar can display Events, Tasks, Time and Key Dates for multiple Matters and multiple users. Activities and Key Dates are selected for display based on filters and options found across the top of the display.

The Matter Calendar can be launched from the Quick Links menu in the sidebar or from the additional tabs menu option. If you plan to use this option on an ongoing basis you'll want to consider making it directly accessible. Consider adding the Tab to your application menu or sidebar shortcuts.

Home Page Component

  • The Matter Calendar can be added to Home page layouts and in this context is used in an organizational context.
  • To add the Matter Calendar to a home page layout follow the instructions for customizing the home page adding the Matter Calendar Component to the items to be shown on the home page.

Single Matter Context

Single Matter Context
  • When used in Matter context, the Matter Calendar can be docked inside the Matter page layout confining it's content to the current Matter only.
  • Activities (events, tasks, time) and Key Dates are selected for display based on options found across the top of the display.
  • In Single Matter Context, the Matter Calendar is available from the Matter Planner or by adding the the Visualforce component to the Matter's page layout.

Viewing Key Dates in the Calendar

The example illustrated here conveys the display of Key Dates on the calendar. Note the Matter date fields (1 & 2) and their values displayed on the Matter and the calendar.

Using the Calendar

List View

List View
  • The List View allows the user to quickly zoom into a specific time-frame to see more details. This is especially useful when working in an Organizational Context.
  • Use the List View drop-arrow to select the number of days (columns) to display.
  • Use the Show Weekends option to include Saturday and Sunday when selecting the columns to display.

1. Activities Menu (single matter context)

  • Tasks: Displays Tasks when enabled.
  • Events: Displays Events when enabled.
  • Time: Displays Time tracking when enabled.
  • My Activities Only: Displays only Activities assigned to the logged-in user.
  • Hide Completed Tasks: Does not display completed Tasks.

2. Activities Menu (organizational context)

  • With Matters Only: Displays only those Activities assigned to a Matter. By nature, this option is implied (as enabled) when using the Focus Matters and list view filter options.

3. Matters Menu (single matter context)

  • Key Dates: Displays Matter Key Dates when enabled.
  • Include Related Matters: Displays Key Dates from related Matters when enabled.

4. Matters Menu (organizational context)

  • Key Dates: Displays Matter Key Dates when enabled.
  • Focus Matters Only: Displays information (Tasks, Events, Time, Key Dates) only for Matters qualified in the user's Focus Matters list.
  • Use List Filter: When enabled, allows the user to select a Matter list view filter. This allows users the ability to display only those items related to Matters which meet the criteria of the list view's filter. (new in Summer 2016)
Navigating the Calendar

  2. Click the menu icon to display the action menu for adding new Activities to the selected date.
  3. Click the Activity to edit the underlying data record.
  4. Drag and drop the Activity to quickly move the item to another date in the calendar.

The calendar month can be navigated using the following methods:

  • Use the toolbar buttons to navigate backward and forward in time.
  • Use the home button to reset to the current date.
